There are 3 types of studs on soles firstly there is the screw-able stud, This allows the football player to adjust the size of the studs depending on the type of pitch they are playing on. If the ground in hard then smaller studs should be used as this will mean that the studs don’t have to go in as far making it easier to run.

Secondly there is the longer stud that can changed allowing the football player to use longer studs when the pitch is wet or it is raining, this effects the boot thusly, with the ground being soft it will give the football player more control so it doesn’t let the player slip and have greater control.

Thirdly there is the blade 

Make sure that the boots are flexible in different directions. Are the boots flexible in all directions, including the sole, i.e. the bottom of the boot?

There are two types of football studs, namely molded and screw-in. The screw-in type have the advantage that the studs can be changed according to the type of ground you are playing on. So you can take one pair of football boots to the game, and change the studs if necessary. If your feet are suffering on hard pitches with blisters, there are several things to try. Use studs which are designed for hard pitches. Use football boots which have a larger number of studs, so that the pressure is more evenly distributed on your foot, or use a padded instep in your either. They are specially designed for Astroturf, but not for use on grass.
